You get the figure before work starts, and it does not move because the job took longer than we thought. If the audit finds the work is smaller than it looked, the quote comes down.
The retainer is for keeping it right
Models drift, tools change their APIs, and your business changes what it asks. The monthly fee covers watching for that, fixing it, and a report on what ran.
There is no usage meter
